最近兩篇長期臨床研究，對於RSA的使用年限與耐用度有所釋疑，Ernstbrunner et al. 的報告皆為年輕病患(平均年齡57歲)，半數在術前曾接受過non-arthroplasty手術，術後不但主觀和功能性都有實質上的改善，且臨床結果在十年過後亦無明顯衰退¹ :
 

另外Cuff et al.的42例RSA，十年生存率為91%（含所有Revision原因），而改善後的功能結果與活動範圍，不論在初期或是到了十年過後，比較起來並無二致。²
